From one former New York Rangers to a current one, Jacob Trouba was selected as the winner of the Mark Messier NHL Leadership Award, the league announced Tuesday.

The award winner is selected personally by Messier and presented since 2007 to a player who "exemplifies great leadership qualities to his team, on and off the ice, during the regular season and who plays a leading role in his community growing the game of hockey."

Brady Tkachuk was named the captain of the 2024 U.S. team for the IIHF men's world hockey championship on Thursday.

Tkachuk, who is the captain of the Ottawa Senators, will wear the "C" for Team USA when it plays Sweden on Friday in Ostrava, Czechia.

Auston Matthews, Nathan MacKinnon and Nikita Kucherov were named finalists for the Ted Lindsay Award on Wednesday.

Voted on by fellow members of the NHL Players' Association, it is presented annually to the most outstanding player in the NHL.

Colorado Avalanche center Nathan MacKinnon, Edmonton Oilers center Connor McDavid and Tampa Bay Lightning winger Nikita Kucherov are the finalists for the 2023-24 Hart Memorial Trophy, given to the player "adjudged to be the most valuable to his team" in the regular season.

The winner is selected by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Toronto Maple Leafs star forward Auston Matthews was named a finalist for the Lady Byng Trophy on Saturday.

It marks the third time that Matthews has been a finalist for the award, which is presented annually to the player voted to best combine sportsmanship, gentlemanly conduct and ability as voted on by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson and Carolina Hurricanes defenseman Jaccob Slavin also were named finalists.

Rick Bowness, Andrew Brunette and Rick Tocchet are finalists for this year's Jack Adams Award, the NHL announced on Friday.

The distinction is given annually to the coach who is "adjudged to have contributed the most to his team's success."

Quinn Hughes, Roman Josi and Cale Makar are finalists for this year's Norris Trophy, the NHL announced Wednesday.

The Norris is awarded annually to the "defense player who demonstrates throughout the season the greatest all-round ability in the position."

Connor Bedard, Brock Faber and Luke Hughes are this year's finalists for the Calder Trophy, the NHL announced Tuesday.

The Calder Trophy is awarded to "the player selected as the most proficient in his first year of competition" and is determined through voting by the Professional Hockey Writers Association.

The NHL named Sergei Bobrovsky, Thatcher Demko and Connor Hellebuyck finalists for the Vezina Trophy.

The Vezina Trophy, which goes to the goaltender adjudged to be the best at his position, was voted on by the NHL's general managers with Bobrovsky, Demko and Hellebuyck finishing in the top three in votes for this season.

Valeri Nichushkin scored twice, Nathan MacKinnon added two assists to break the franchise's single-season points mark and the Colorado Avalanche cruised into the playoffs behind a 5-1 win over the Edmonton Oilers on Thursday night.

MacKinnon wrapped up the regular season with 140 points (51 goals, 89 assists) to top Peter Stastny's franchise record of 139 set in 1981-82 when the club was in Quebec.
