Press Release - Cliff Fletcher, general manager of the Toronto Maple Leafs, announced Friday that the hockey club has signed newly-acquired centreman Mikhail Grabovski (pronounced ‘gra BAWV-skee’) to a one-year contract. Grabovski was obtained yesterday from the Canadiens in exchange for the rights to Greg Pateryn (pronounced ‘Patter in’) and Toronto’s second-round draft selection in 2010.

Grabovski, 24, scored three goals and added six assists in 24 games for Montreal in 2007-08. He missed 25 games due to an ankle injury this past season and he returned to the lineup to record 20 points in 12 games for the Hamilton Bulldogs. He was recalled to Montreal for the remainder of the season following being named first star in five consecutive AHL games from February 15 to February 20. [READ]
