Yahoo.com - The Hurricanes took a step toward the future Friday, agreeing to terms with center Jakub Petruzalek on a two-year, two-way contract.

The 22-year-old Czech, who also received a $65,000 signing bonus, will make $475,000 per year at the NHL level. In the minor leagues, he will get $55,000 in the first year and $60,000 the second year.

A ninth-round pick of the Rangers in 2004, Petruzalek was acquired by the Hurricanes on November 21 for Brad Isbister.
